What does Intentional Consumption mean?
I'm frustrated with modern culture. It makes it impossible for
me to enjoy anything.
Our fast-paced world is always looking for the next hit: the
next story, the next reel, the next big thing. We are
overconsuming the content that is out there; we are
overconsuming art and culture. And because of this, we are also
overproducing art and culture to match this need for
consumption. Masterpieces of art are replaced by low-quality
short-form “content.” Our modern culture values easily
consumable, mindless content that is literally rotting your
brain.
I've had enough of this! I don't want to doomscroll anymore. I
want to engage deeply with the art I consume; I want to think
about it and give it the proper brain bandwidth it deserves. I
want to enjoy the things I bring into my life.
The key to this, I believe is mindful consumption (with
intention). Take time with the material and don't jump for the
next thing immediately.
This is my list of high-quality content the world has to offer.
I wish to spend my time only engaging with the art listed here.
I invite you to join me in this. Get a book, read it slowly,
take your time to enjoy every word of it. Slow down with the
input. Enjoy what you consume again!
